Most insurance plans cover 15 minutes of acupuncture treatment per session. Additional therapies like heat lamps, hot or cold packs, or other modalities may be included if time allows, but typically, time does not permit these add-ons.
To ensure you receive the most effective care, we recommend scheduling a minimum 30-minute session at our clinic. Our priority is to provide a safe and supportive space for your healing journey.
Insurance Plans We Accept
We are in-network with American Specialty Health (ASH Network), which covers acupuncture for various insurance providers, including:
• Kaiser
• Blue Cross/Blue Shield
• Cigna
• Aetna
• Health Net
• And more
Medi-Cal Members: Receive two visits per month with $0 copay (only for select plans).
Important Notes on Coverage:
• ASH plans may approve up to 24 visits per provider per year, but coverage varies.
• Some plans may not honor your full benefit.
• A $30 Plan Care non-covered services fee applies to all visits (we offer a sliding scale for those who qualify).

WHAT DOES INSURANCE TYPICALLY COVER?

• GuaSha scraping
• Pneumatic cupping
• Herbal medicine
What Conditions Are Covered?
Insurance generally covers:
✔ Musculoskeletal pain conditions (e.g., back pain, joint pain, headaches)
✔ Certain types of nausea (e.g., chemotherapy-induced, pregnancy-related)
✔ Conditions deemed “medically necessary” with a referral from your primary care physician
Insurance does not typically cover cupping, manual therapy, or additional holistic treatments.
HSA & FSA PAYMENTS ACCEPTED
Yes! We accept HSA (Health Savings Accounts) and FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts) for acupuncture services.
• Acupuncture is an approved medical expense for HSA/FSA funds.
• We provide proof of payment with procedure & diagnosis codes for reimbursement.
• Use any remaining HSA/FSA funds before they expire at the end of the year!
OUR FINANCIAL POLICY
We charge a $30 fee for all office visits to cover non-covered therapeutic services such as:
• Moxibustion (Moxa)
• GuaSha
• Cupping
• Thermal and manual therapies
These treatments enhance your healing experience and contribute to achieving the best possible outcomes.
Non-Covered Expenses
Our clinic is committed to providing the best care possible for our patients. However, you may be responsible for:
• Medical supplies, comfort items, or additional procedures
• Any treatments denied or reduced by your insurance company
• Charges for services deemed experimental, investigational, or outside policy limitations
It is your responsibility to be aware of your insurance policy’s limitations. If you would like to opt out of any non-covered services, please inform us before your treatment begins.
